Evaluation and overall thoughts

After working for a long time on this idea, I am happy with how it has turned out. The ‘Alice’s Dilemma’ video could have done with different lighting and sound on some shots, but i really like the angles and POV the camera has, whilst also telling a story to the audience, which the previous videos didn’t do as much. building up from the ‘Playtime’ video the idea of the characters having roles and representing emotions and feelings has grown, and i am pleased with how they’ve evolved.

I have finished editing the video and am overall very pleased with it I have shown it to several people and they have understood what was happening in it and the message i was conveying.

Extra Footage-Annie texting Mark

Here is another scene i removed from the video to shorten its length, whilst it would have added to the characters of Mark and Annie, it was not important enough for me to keep in the final piece.

This is another section of video i choose to remove as i thought it wasn’t needed as the audience would know what was happening by what occurred beforehand.

Extra Footage-Cat and Queen argue

after putting the video together with the clips i wanted to use, the video is too long, by over a minute, this has made me have to remove scenes and shorten clips in places. This is one of the clips where the queen and cat argue about how to best handle the situation. This section was only half finished when i removed it.

Editing the video

The editing of the video is going well, this was aided by the fact that the order i shot the footage in for the most part is in the order i wanted to edit it in. The only issue i may have is keeping to the 5 minute limit the video i supposed to have.

Filming the video

The filming for the video has gone well, and i have been happy that i was able to create what should look like a multi-camera film using only one video camera and the different angles and viewpoints i’ve used. I will start editing this soon

Final idea for video piece

After thinking about exactly what i wanted to happen in this video I have decided i want it to be shot more like a short film than an abstract video.

At the moment, the film will consist of the main character, who will be dealing with feeling of guilt for a reason, and the two characters that appear to confront her about what action to take, these will b in the persona of the queen and cat from the earlier video.

I am not planning on using many effects in the video, using costume and make up to give the desired effect.

Adding a character

I have added a third character to the video as it has allowed me the create a dynamic relationship between the characters and it should keep the audience interested throughout

Self-Conscience

In a similar fashion to the previous video i posted, this one follows the same subject, but the video is done in a different way. Overall i think i prefer the way this video is shot and still give the viewer the same message.

Conscience-Video

Looking more closely at punishing ourselves with our conscience i have come across videos about how people deal with certain disorders, with the most common being bulimia. This is an example where our conscience ends up with us making the wrong choices.

Truth-Video

With looking at conscience, i have come across videos exploring the truth and how feelings of regret come from lying to someone, or sometimes to ourselves. This video is an experimental piece with a very disjointed narrative but I think it works effectively.

Finding more research

I’m finding it difficult to find research on this particular subject matter, whilst I have been able to find short film made with it in mind, finding still photography artists that have made projects based on it are much more hard to come across. However i am aiming to make a video piece so with this in hindsight and the fact that i have been able to find video material to help me i am still happy with the research i am finding.

Conscience-Video

This is video looks into how ones feelings of guilt and remorse can affect your life if left bottled up. There is a lot of metaphorical meaning in this example, but i think it works well.

Vicious Conscience- Video

This is a short film again discussing one persons conscience and it making him do the 'right thing’ as it were. The cinematography of this piece is very film like, which i like.

Conscience-Video

This video shows a basic look into someones conscience and how it can affect judgement and actions. I found the interrogation style of the video interesting.

Moving on from DID to human conscience

After examining how people with DID are, I’ve come to the conclusion that it would be a difficult subject to tackle as the individual in these cases does have multiple personalities that are always active.

So from researching DID i’ve come across videos and writing delving into the human conscience and how whilst it is normally just a thought, it can be manifested into a more physical entity.


I think i would be able to create a video based on this much easier than one on DID.

Looking at DID (Dissociative identity disorder)

I have come across articles and videos exploring DID or Dissociative identity disorder which loosely termed is when an individual has multiple personalities and personas. Below is a video looking into how people with the condition can behave and how others see them.

Exploring subject matter for next video

Whilst I was happy with the outcome of the previous videos, I want the next one to have more of a reason and message to show. 

Now i am thinking of perhaps seeing how the humane psyche can manifest characters such as these to torment an individual as it were.
